Crust Ingredients
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Crust Instructions
In large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in water; let stand for 5 minutes.
Add oil and salt. Stir in flour, a cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Turn onto floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 2-3 minutes.
Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
Punch down dough; divide in half. Press each into a greased 12-in. pizza pan.
Spread your own sauce on the pizza (recipe below).
Top with your desired toppings.
Put in Pizza Oven 'til done
Sauce Ingredients
2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 can (12 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon onion powder
Add some minced garlic
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine tomato sauce and paste.
Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Cool.
Pour into freezer containers, leaving 1/2-in. headspace.
Freeze for up to 12 months. Yield: about 4 cups.
Note: Use the sauce with crust and toppings of your choice to make a pizza; 1-1/3 cups of sauce will cover a crust in a 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. pan.
